Is VirtualCare covered by my Capital Blue Cross plan?

While it is included with most Capital Blue Cross plans, VirtualCare is not covered for all members. Please check with your employer or review your plan details to verify that VirtualCare is included with your program.

When should I use VirtualCare?

VVirtual doctor visits are best for colds, fevers, migraines, allergies, and other health issues that would not require a hands-on exam or test.

What will happen during my VirtualCare doctor visit?

Download the app, register, and request a visit. Most VirtualCare doctor visits are similar to an office visit. Expect a typical appointment to last between 15-20 minutes.

Can my virtual provider write a prescription?

Yes. Your provider will be able to electronically submit a prescription to the pharmacy you select.

Does VirtualCare use Apple’s FaceTime functionality?

No, the app uses built-in video chat.

Is a virtual doctor visit ok for my child?

Yes. If your child (under the age of 18) is sick, you can schedule an appointment on their behalf. A parent or legal guardian must be present during the VirtualCare visit.

How much does a VirtualCare visit cost?

I am having trouble connecting to VirtualCare. What can I do?

Please try the following:

  • Confirm your internet connection if functioning and that you are connected to a strong connection like a computer LAN or at least a good speed of Wi-Fi.
    • LTE or mobile data is not recommended.
    • App crashes often occur when Wi-Fi or cellular data is slow or unstable, leading to app malfunctions. If you are using a web browser or an intranet, try clearing your cache.
  • Make sure you have sufficient storage space on your device.
  • Confirm your device has the latest operating system (OS) update.
  • Turn your device on and off or reboot your computer.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Capital Blue Cross app.

I can connect to VirtualCare, but I am having trouble using it. What can I do?
